Una nueva tienda de mascotas abrió en 89 7th Avenue between West 4th and Bleeker Street en the West Village de New York City, se llama "Village Pet Store And Charcoal Grill" y es una respuesta congruente a la crisis por la que todos los americanos están pasando. En especial para los neoyorquinos que son una raza aparte que lleva en su sangre códigos culturales muy particulares. Preocupados por el stock market meltdown y las elecciones, los isleños encontraran en esta tienda una forma más de cuestionarse sobre el momento tan cabrón por el que están pasando. Aquí encontraran entre otras cosas, Hotdogs salvajes en jaulas con lámparas de calor, nuggets tomando barbecue sauce y pescados empanizados nadando en su pecera. También es de sorprender que la mente detrás de este proyecto no sea estadounidense sino Inglesa. Es la primer expo oficial en NY de Banksy y de la cual tiene esto que decir:
“New Yorkers don’t care about art, they care about pets. So I’m exhibiting them instead. I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming, but it ended up as chicken nuggets singing. I took all the money I made exploiting an animal in my last show and used it to fund a new show about the exploitation of animals. If its art and you can see it from the street, I guess it could still be considered street art."
